Overview

Your MDVIP Annual Wellness Program (AWP) exam includes two appointments designed to assess your health and create a personalized wellness plan. Please review the details below to know what to expect and how to prepare.

AWP Part one

This visit focuses on data collection through a blood draw and several non-invasive diagnostic tests. A medical assistant will conduct this portion, which lasts about 60–90 minutes. Your results will be reviewed with your physician at Part Two.

How to Prepare

  • Fast for 8 hours before your appointment.

  • Stay hydrated with water or unsweetened, clear fluids the night before and morning of your visit. You may also drink unsweetened tea or black coffee.

  • Avoid lotions so electrodes adhere properly to your skin.

  • Wear loose-fitting clothing to allow access to wrists and ankles for testing.

  • Be prepared to briefly remove false teeth or oral appliances for the spirometry test.

  • Notify your medical assistant if you have a pacemaker.

AWP Part two

This visit occurs 2–3 weeks after Part One and lasts 60–90 minutes. You’ll meet with your physician to review all test results and receive a personalized wellness plan for the year ahead.

How to Prepare

  • Wear comfortable clothing for the extended visit.

  • Snacks are welcome; refreshments are also available in our waiting area.

  • Bring a notepad if you’d like to take notes—your physician will also provide printed results.

Please note—you may see some results in your patient portal before your visit; all results will be posted to the MDVIP Portal after your Part Two exam. Bloodwork is processed through the Cleveland Heart Lab, which does not currently interface directly with our system. We ask that you wait until your appointment with your personal physician when all results can be reviewed and discussed in full.
